Full time position 38hrs per week.  Roster basis can vary 8:30am to 5pm or 9am to 5:30pm on a rotational basis with other staff.

Uniform will be provided after 3mth probation.  Must be presentable, attention to detail and willing to multiskill.  Has opportunity for growth into office manager for the right candidate at a higher rate of course.

An established Medical Practice in Shepparton which values integrity and inclusiveness; teamwork and respect seeks a Medical Receptionist / Admin Officer to report directly to the Practice Manager.

Key Duties
In accordance with the practice policies and procedures, the Medical Receptionist / Administration Officer will:
• answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner
• receive and convey messages in writing, verbally and electronically, including internal emails.
• liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner
• liaise with GPs, other health professionals and their staff
• make patient appointments following set procedures
• handle cash, EFTPOS and other payments and adhere to practice billing policy
• scan and file documents
• prepare documents for mail out
• open, stamp and distribute incoming mail when directed
• contribute equitably to maintaining the cleanliness of the practice
• maintain practice dress standards
• ensure the practice building and rooms are clean, tidy and accessible
• perform other administrative duties as directed by the Practice Manager or delegate.
Selection criteria

The Medical Receptionist / Administration Officer will have:
• the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
• Good computer literacy
• excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• the ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively within a team environment
• the ability to communicate with a range of people
• CPR training undertaken within the past three years, or willingness to participate in training

Desirable (highly regarded but not essential)
The Medical Receptionist / Administration Officer will have:
• previous experience in a medical reception or similar administrative position
• previous experience in the use of Pracsoft/Medical Director software
• working knowledge of Windows-based software systems (e.g. Word and Excel)
• an understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule
• an understanding of medical terminology, medical and allied health professional organisations and relevant stakeholders

Hours of work
This position is a Full-Time position of 38 of hours per week. A roster for receptionist/administration Officer is used to ensure adequate coverage for patient consult times.  It is expected that the receptionist / administration officer will work to a roster along with other team members.
